Strategic Planning
Strategic Planning is the process of determining the future of an
organization and what organizational resources will be needed to
achieve organizational goals. Taking the time to focus on the
direction of your business is an important step to success, whether
you are a sole proprietor or the CEO of a multi-national
conglomerate.
For many companies, especially larger ones, a Strategic Plan is
something to be written in secret, put in a fancy leather binder and
then put on a shelf. Unfortunately, that type of Plan doesn’t
help a company grow because:
1) the people who are supposed to execute it don’t know about
it; 2) if it sits on a shelf it can’t be tracked or
measured; and 3) if it sits on a shelf it can’t be updated
or changed to reflect changing market conditions.

you're going, any road will take you

At Think Big Thoughts
Consulting, our Strategic Planning process is
designed to give the business owner the opportunity to work ON their
business rather than just IN their business. Our process helps
you define:
- Your Vision – what you want your business to become when it
grows up – typically 10 to 15 years
- Or if you’re a typical small business, what you want to be
NEXT YEAR!
- Your Mission – what you need to be working on RIGHT NOW to
move you toward that Vision
- Your Core Values – how you want to operate and be viewed by
your employees, customers and suppliers
- Your Critical Goal Categories/Critical Success Factors – the
critical areas you need to address to be able to achieve your
Mission
- Or – what will cause you to fail if you fail to address
it…
- Specific Goals – getting specific on exactly what needs to be
accomplished to achieve the Mission, by whom and by what date
- Action Plans – what each team or department is going to do to
achieve your immediate Mission and move you toward your
Vision
In addition we work with you to develop reporting and measurement
tools to track success and make course corrections.
A
successful Plan is one that everyone works toward. That means
involving your employees in its execution. A Plan held in
secret will succeed in secret but fail in public. That’s why
we work with our client companies to communicate their Plans
throughout their organizations, letting every employee know what the
Plan is and what their role will be in its successful
attainment. |
